Experience System
While multiple people attack a monster, the experience is shared amongst all players that hit the monster. The following guide helps explain how the experience is distributed to these hunters. Here are some things to note:
  • Calculating experience for people in a party does not use the formula given below.
  • Monsters can recognize an attacker's character and the number of successful hits.
  • A Monster will give experience to hunters according to the total number of successful hits from that player.
  • The first hitter of the monster gets twice the experience than the other attackers.

    Formula to calculate experience:
         (A * B) / C

    Where:
A = Number of times the player hit the monster
B = Total Experience Amount of Monster
C = Number of Successful hits from all players to kill the monster.

Method 1 - When there is a first hitter.
(Note: The first person to hit the monster gets to double their number of hits)
Player Number of successful hits it
    took to kill the monster.
    Total Experience
We use 100 for the example
    A (first hitter) 4 (* 2 = 8) (8 * 100) / 16 = 50
    B 6 (6 * 100) / 16 = 37.5
    C 2 (2 * 100) / 16 = 12.5

Method 2 - When there is no first hitter.
(Note: Since there is no first hitter, noone gets to double their hits.)
Player Number of successful hits it
    took to kill the monster.
    Total Exp
We use 100 for the example
    A 4 (4 * 100) / 12 = 33.3
    B 6 (6 * 100) / 12 = 50
    C 2 (2 * 100) / 12 = 16

New Experience Formula (Provided by the work of Ruben, Kaerid, Amer, Melantus, and other Message Board Members)
To calculate the experience that each Monster gives, you can use the following formula. I have calculated the experience for each Monster and added it to the Monster Guides.

The formula for finding the experience of a monster is:
    (Level * Level) + 1

    Example 1:
Skeleton is Level 10. So the formula would be:
    (Level * Level) + 1 (10 * 10) + 1 100 + 1 = 101

    Example 2:
Cyclops is Level 40. So the formula would be:
    (Level * Level) + 1 (40 * 40) + 1 1600 + 1 = 1601

The table below shows how much exp you get when killing a monster alone. This table is for players level 40-69 and mops level 10-50. This in order to take advantage of the 4 decimal exp shown for players level 40+.
In the 2 first columns you see monster level and monster exp. In the 2 top rows you see player level and player exp to reach next level. The formula to calculate exp pr mop at your level is simply = monster exp * 100 / exp to next level.

  • Lawful Points
Getting lawful is a key point in the game. Although some characters prefer to be chaotic, most prefer to be lawful. The difference is that once you are fully lawful you will not drop items when you die.

Each monster that you kill has an alignment. For example, a goblin has an alignment of -5. When you kill the goblin, you will get 5 lawful points. When you start a character you are at 0 alignment and to get to full lawful you have to get 32757 lawful points. So, go kill 6552 goblins and you should be fully lawful =). Undead monsters usually give more lawful points and thus one of the main suggestions to getting fully lawful is to kill undead monsters (skeletons, zombies, etc.).

Some of the best monsters to hunt to get fully lawful are as follows:

    • Goblin = 5
    • Human Zombie = 8
    • Floating Eye = 8
    • Orc Fighter = 8
    • Dwarf Warrior = 9
    • Werewolf = 9
    • Arachnevil = 12
    • Skeleton = 12
    • Skeleton Archer = 12
    • Skeleton Pike = 13
    • Skeleton Axeman = 13
    • Stone Golem = 12
    • Arachnevil Elder = 20
Based on your level and your armor class, the monsters that you may want to hunt varies. These are all monsters under level 12 that can be relatively easy to kill and thus give you lawful points.

If you are hunting with a dog or with someone else, the lawful points are split amongst everyone that hits the monster. I am not exactly sure how the point distribution works but it will be split in some manor.
